Design & Innovation for Sustainable Cities*
DISC
DISC* El Cerrito
Brief: Create a simulation board with movable pieces, allowing multiple iterations to be constructed with the assembled pieces.
This project focused on the BART Station of El Cerrito and aimed towards creating a more unified and opportunistic community through transit-oriented development. Fieldwork and site analysis revealed weaknesses to be sprawled and disconnected in the community. As a result, our final proposed plan for the city was to redesign the station and surrounding parking area, making it more accessible and pedestrian-friendly. The proposed design would add in bike lanes to promote more sustainable transport, and improved services would encourage economic growth and prosperity in the vicinity. Maps indicate bike lanes and context spaces.
Pieces modelled in Rhino and 3D Printed. Transit hub and public spaces laser cut and assembled with acrylic. Cover and board laser etched into plywood.

Brush Painting
Brush Painting
I took traditional Chinese Brush Painting and Calligraphy classes during my first few years of highschool. From brush painting, I was able to develop detail-oriented techniques through the traditional method of gongbi, which requires a thin brush and gentle brush strokes. I developed an acute attention to detail through brush painting, allowing me to incorporate this skill in my architectural studio projects.
